The Pain of a Smile

Image
He stood there, water cascading down his face. Was it from the shower head or was it from his blood-shot eyes? As he heard the water droplets hit the floor, he is reminded of the undesirable curves that the water trickles down. A body which would be perfect, for a female. His much to large chest is a reminder of the sin of gluttony he is so guilty of. His arms are large but not in muscle but fat. The mountain on his lower torso which only grows in layers as he advances in age. The hair which grows everywhere is as dark as the thoughts he has when he tries to imagine his own image as “beautiful”. Worse still, he is constantly reminded of his scars inside by the scars on his face. Not a smooth surface but one torn from all the pain he’s been through throughout his short life. Some may say that he’s not half bad but he can’t accept that. He was born with the mindset of wanting nothing but perfection. Some say that he already has everything but when he looks in the mirror every

PASUM: An Adventure to Shape Your Future

Introduction Today's post is going to be about PASUM, my experience through it and how the program is structured (at least how it was during my time). A little bit about me before we begin. My name is Muzza and I was a PASUM (Pusat Asasi Sains Universiti Malaya) student of the year 2017/2018. Initially I had never intended to enrol in PASUM (I actually changed my mind the week before PASUM began) because I had never heard of the program nor really been interested in it. However after considering the prestige of the University of Malaya, I opted to give it a shot for a year. I enrolled in PASUM (taking Life Sciences) in 2017 under JPA's Program Penajaan 9A+ scholarship. A word of warning, if you really want to get into PASUM, study hard. Apparently it's quite competitive and a very popular program. They also don't take too many students in comparison to other public university foundations. And so the journey begins.  Academics So PASUM or sometimes referred

SPM Tips Which are a Year Overdue

SPM Tips by Subject Introduction Assalammualaikum guys, today I want to share some of my tips for those of you preparing for SPM. I’m not trying to brag or anything by posting this but instead I hope that you guys can learn something from this and get results better than mine. F.Y.I. I’m a full-science student so I took 9 subjects for SPM only. I did take ‘prinsip perakaunan’ in form 4 but I chose to drop it in form 5 because I loathed accounting. Don’t worry though, I’ll try to get some tips from my friends who scored A+ for accounts and post it sometime later. Someone edit a '+' after that A please. Bahasa Melayu (Malay Language) For me personally my language subjects were especially hard because I was more gifted in memorising and I loved science. Because of this, I had to enrol in BM tuition which greatly helped me a lot. I highly recommend going to tuition for BM because there are some things you can’t self-learn for BM (like the format and what not).

Goodbye KUAZ and PASUM

This marks the end of my foundation journey in PASUM. I did it guys, I made it through the grueling and rigorous 9 to 5 schedule of a Pasumian. All the blood, sweat and tears finally paid off. 4 subjects subdivided further into 2 components my word, sounds like SPM but the funny thing is the hardest thing I had to do in PASUM, was leave. I won't forget, never. I swear! Throughout my stay in Kolej Kediaman Ungku Aziz (KUAZ), I made a lot of friends who I now call family. These are the people who have been with me (sleeping, eating, baraiing, moksyaing) for a whole year and coming from a normal high school, I've never shared my room with anyone. At first I loathed the thought of staying at a college. No air conditioning, no hot showers, college food, no TV and so many other no's which I initially thought would've made me quit after the first month. However, I learned to love the college and it's inhabitants. I loved my roommates who I shall talk about right afte
